About our service project

IB English B HL Service Project

In 2011, the English B H1 class visited for the first time a local Indonesian elementary school where about 150 children study in six austerely furnished classrooms. After this field trip, we decided to take actions to  help them study in a better environment. Therefore, the Project Hand by Hand was established and it aims to raise money for the better life of the future local generation.

We hold elections to the governing group every year. Here are the people in charge of the project this year:

At the moment the school needs:

1/ equipment:

• books to study from ENGLISH BOOKS DONATED. Now we’re hoping to BUILD A LIBRARY – NEED GOOD USED BOOKS IN INDONESIAN, SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UP TO GRADE 6.
• more dictionaries (picture dictionaries)  THESE HAVE BEEN BOUGHT
• pencil sharpeners for each classroom
• dictionaries for children to use – English-Indonesian, Indonesian-English;  THESE HAVE BEEN BOUGHT

  Donating pencils

• writing utensils: whiteboard markers, erasers, pencils, colored pencils, colored markers, crayons
• writing paper: scratchpaper
• maps and globes
• TV sets and DVD players  TWO SETS with carts WERE DONATED
• book shelves    SIX HAVE BEEN BOUGHT, NEED LARGE BOOK SHELF TO SERVE AS A LIBRARY IN ONE OF THE CLASSROOMS

• desks and chairs
• windows in classrooms
• front gate
• toilets TOILETS HAVE BEEN RENOVATED
• doors
